This correspondence was, and is, intended to stimulate comments and discussion concerning methods for building trust and unity among Black Americans beginning with our religious organizations and institutions. This effort is linked to ongoing efforts by the Long-Term Strategic Plan for Black America’s (LTSPFBA’s) Implementation Team. To clarify the relevance of religion to economics, economists have long-held that culture—including religion—influences economic outcomes in significant ways. The so-called “father of economics,” Adam Smith, prepared a very well-received work entitled, The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759), long before he penned his seminal work on economics, The Wealth of Nations (1776).

Brief Essay: “Cyborgism and Black America’s Economic Future” (August 30, 2025) (215 KB) [CABAEF083025.pdf] This essay forces the realization that we are now functioning (as will our descendants), in an economy that is pervaded increasingly by “cyborgs.” Hence we should seek to comprehend well what cyborgs are and how they are already affecting, and promise to affect, our future. “For better or worse: That is the question?” If you are even marginally concerned (excited even) about our future, then you will enjoy this Brief Essay.

Essay: “The Human Mind and AI” (May 23, 2025) (206 KB) ([THMAAI052325.pdf] This essay continues BlackEconomics.org’s analysis of how the human mind helps determine our effectiveness as economic agents. This results from the absence of an agreement to accept an existing, or build a new, strategic plan about which we can all agree, adopt, and implement. There is particular concern now because of developments on the African Continent that are motivating elevated levels of interest in emigrating to Afrika and/or attempting to assist Afrikan countries with their economic development programs mainly through financial investment. Optimally, Black American emigres and/or investors should undertake effective and successful decisions so that their experience is rewarding and that they are, in fact, rewarded.

Essay: “Can T-M Madness Be Explained?” (April 4, 2025) (205 KB) [SPACE040425.pdf] This essay considers the whirlwind of madness emanating from the People’s House in Washington, DC. It suggests that an extended chain of past events and recent developments may shine light on not only what might serve as a partial reason for the madness, but it may also reveal that we are observing the evolution and early implementation of a seemingly new, but actually not so new, economic growth model. One thing is for certain: Today’s unfolding developments will affect our long-term future adversely if we do not respond properly to these developments now.

Essay: “What Now?” (December 14, 2024) (210 KB) [WN121424.pdf] This essay analyzes prospects for the immediate and near-term future in an economic system requiring perpetual growth. The current bleak outlook is a product of a Western Mind that has lacked genuine creativity. But existing tools and those embodying appropriate human and cultural capital can help innovate our world back to balance if global leadership (oligarchs and plutocrats) can cure its avarice addiction. Black Americans, however, can seek to avoid inevitable crises by implementing our own strategic plan. In response to this essay, we received the following responses: Comment 1; and Comment 2.

Essay: “A Stew for Winning the Global Socioeconomic Race War” (October 18, 2024) (237 KB) [ASFWTGSRW101824.pdf] This essay suggests reconsideration and potential augmentation of our long-held strategy of Black – White separations to facilitate Black American socioeconomic development. It employs a scrumptious, soothing, delicious, and warm stew and its ingredients as a metaphor for how to view this new two-component “love” strategy for winning the global socioeconomic race war. The logic of this alternative for addressing global inequality is reinforced because the strategy is already in play.

Commentary: “Oh How We Need Thee!” (September 20, 2024) (188 KB) [COLSOHWNT092024.pdf] This commentary revisits one of our 2021 commentaries that emphasized the need for more Black American coordinated and integrated planning so that we can implement increasingly complex strategies that are required to ensure Black America’s successful rise. Organizing and organizations can be favorable, but they can also be fragmenting. Action is required to prevent the latter.
